The main thrust of present UK policies is not compatible with the Brandt Report, even though the FCO Memorandum is supportive of a number of issues presented therein. Inflation is a symptom rather than the cause of Britain's present difficulties and intergovernmental action along the lines of the Brandt Report should be investigated as a possible element in the cure.
